pT,AY IN OPENING ROUNDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night. The first round of the Rotorua golf championship was played in dull weather with drizzling, rain. The course was true but heavy. The second round play in the afternoon produced magnificent golf, though rain was falling steadily at the close. Details are;— Rotorua Championship. First Round.—Rex George beat S- ECarr,'s up and 4to play; Parata beat L. Buddle, 3 and 1; Howden, juh., beat H. B. Imsk, 3 and' 2; Plumley beat Duncan, 3 and 2; O’Callaghan beat Alenzies, 3 and 2; Hocken beat Wells, 2 and i; Troutbeck beat Bartleet, 1 up; nunsden beat D. F. Howden, 6 and 5. Second beat Parata, 3 and 2; Plumley beat C. P. Howden, 2 and 1; Hocken beat O’C'allagban, 1 up on the 10th; Troutbeck beat Brinsden, 2 and 1. Thermal Cup. First Round. —-Rainger beat R. C. Smith, 6. and 4; Brett beat Hursley, 5 and 4; F. C. Hutchinson beat Harold, 3 and 2; Goss beat Fi N. Hutchison, 4 and 3; Harrison beat C. E. Kusabs, 4 and 2; Western beat Jacobsen, 4 and 2; Abbott beat I. S. Barnes-Graham, 6 and 5; M. D.< Carr beat Tidmarsh, 1 up. Second Round. —Goss beat Hutchinson, 1 up; Harrison, beat Western, 4 and 2; Abbott beat M. D.- Carr, 2 and 1; Rainger beat Brett, 1 up. The bogey handicap was won by E. Brown (9), 2 up, R. Rainger (4) 1 up being runner-up.
