LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT

LOADED BUS AND TP.AIN. An omnibus, carrying 21 passengers, collided with a train at a level crossing, Perth, Western Australia, recently. The driver of a vehicle can obtain a clear view of the railway line only when he is near the crossing. The driver of the bus, Arlmond Lionel Calcutt, of Belmon, saw the train too late to avoid a collision and steered the vehicle to the left toward a cattle pit, but the train eaught it at an angle near the front, tearing away a mudguard and a front wheel as the engine and carriages rushed by. within two feet of the bus driver, who received only minor cuts. The bus passengers escaped uninjured, but showed signs of the terrifying experience when they alighted, one woman fainting.
