.REPLY MADE TO THE CHARGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, August 22. The Canadian Trade Commissioner, Mr. Croft, commenting on the allegation made by a deputation to the Premier yesterday that makers of American motor-ears and tyres are using Canada as the country-of origin, said a suggestion of that kind amounted to a reflection on the New Zealand Customs Department. It had never yet been suggested, to his knowledge, that any Canadian manufacturers had knowingly made a false declaration. The Customs representative in New York representing New Zealand frequently visited the Canadian factories to make inquiries. The Collector of Customs, Mr. Mclntosh, also said he knew of no case of wtlfrl'mis-statement. :
