County cricket results are: — Northants beat Middlesex.—Middlesex, in the first innings, made 284 (Price 63) and in the second loot nine wickets for 2G9 and declared (Durston 92 not out). Northants, in the first inningfl, made 293 (Hawtin 79, Jupp 75) and in the second lost one wicket for 81. Northants won on the first innings. Essex beat Sussex. —Sussex, in the first innings, made 232 (Langridge 82; Nichols took five wickets for 41), and in the second IGO (Smith took four wickets for 32). Essex, in the first innings, made 252 (Cutmore 82; Browne took six wickets’for 77) and in the second lost three wickets for 141. Essex won by seven wickets.

Lancashire beat Kent. —Lancashire, in the first innings, made 254 (G. Tyldesley 79; Freeman took five wickets for 95) and in the second 148 (Freeman took seven wickets for 54). Kent, in the first' innings, made 212 (Woolley 103; MacDonald took five wickets for 97) and in the second 89 (R. Tyldesley took six wickets for 29). Lancashire won by 101 runs. Glamorgan beat Derby.—Glamorgan, in the first innings, made 260 (Turnbull 135) and in the second 213 (Mitchell took five wickets for 54). Derby, in the first innings, made 237 (Ryan took six wickets for 86) and in the second 71 (Ryan took six wickets for 27). Glamorgan won by 165-runs. . Gloucester -beat ' Leicester.—Gloucester. in the’ first innings, made 335

(Geary took five wickets for 57) and in the second lost two wickets for 50. Leicester, in the first innings, made 144 (Sinfield took five wickets for 50) and followed on, making 239 (Coleman 114; Goddard took seven wickets for. 100). Gloucester won by eight wickets. Yorkshire beat. Nottingham.—Nottingham, in the first innings, made 158 (Macaulay took four wickets for 41) and in the second lost five wickets for 37. Yorkshire, in the first innings, lest eight , wickets for 451 . and declared (Holmes 97, Mitchell 176). .Yorkshire won on the first innings. Surrey beat Warwick. —Warwick, in the first innings, made 243 and in the second lost four wickets for 216. Surrey, in the first innings, made 394 (Sandham 104). Surrey won on the first innings. Somerset beat Hampshire.—Somerset, in the first innings, lost nine wickets

for 488 and declared, and in the second lost four wickets for 109. Hampshire made 340. Somerset won on the first innings.
