FAREWELL TO SETTLERS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
A very pleasant function was held at the Methodist parsonage last week, when Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jackson were tendered a’ farewell. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson had both been actively interested in the Bible class and church affairs generally, and they were presented with a very nice picture. The Rev. W. Wilson in making the presentation spoke of the good work they had done, and the very high esteem in which the guests were heldy and wished them, the best of luck in their new sphere. Mr. Jackson responded, the gathering afterwards singing “Auld Laiig Syne.” Mr. Jackson is taking up farming in the Inglewood district. ’
At the card evening, organised by Mesdames K. A. Andrews and E. Corbett, held in the hall on Monday, there was an attendance of about 60. Progressive euchre and bridge were played, the prizewinners at the former being Miss Phillips and Mr. J. sJ. Carey. A dainty supper was afterwards served.
