REPRESENTATIVE ON LAND BOARD.

VOTES TO BE COUNTED TO-DAY.

Polling. closed yesterday for the election of one Crown tenants’ representative on the Taranaki ’ Land • Board. The voting papers will-be counted to-day in the office of the Crown Lands Commissioner at New Plymouth. The contest is -between Mr. C. J. Ryan, Taumarynui, the retiring member, and Mr. W. Sandisdn, Matiere. This is the first' biennial election for a tenants’ representative since 1914, the retiring member having been previously returned unopposed. The election was ducted throughout the Taranaki Land district, and voting papers were sent to nearly 1800 Crown tenants. • ■”> The permanent chairman of the Lands Board is Mr. W. D. Armit as Crown Lands .Commissioner. There are four other members, three of them- nominated by the Government and one elected by the tenants.
