The -inhabitants of Peshawar are spending, anxious days owing to the menace of raiding Afridis growing ever nearer. Devout Moslems are praying-for the success of the British and Indian
troops. The main body of Afridis, estimated at 10,000, is encamped in the Bara Valley, 12 miles from the city. Seventy aeroplanes operated against them, dropping 6000 bombs, but it is believed th© Afridis’ casualties were small. Meanwhile the main attack on Peshawar has not yet materialised.
