NOTED SINGER’S DEATH

JdR. JOHN PROUSE, WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. .Wellington, Last Night. The death occurred to-day ; of Mr. John Prouse, a notable figure in music circles in New Zealand. He was aged 75. A distinguished baritone singer, Mr. Prouse had toured with famous ar•tists, including Kubelik, Melba, Bachhaus and Dolores. His greatest achievements were in oratorio and he had sung at Albert Hall and Queen’s Hall for 31 years. He wae associated with St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral choir. Mr. Prouse was born at Wainui-o-Mata, where his father settled in 1841 and wae a successful business man in the timber trade. He leaves a widow, three sons and two daughters. His sons are Mr. William Prouse, architect, Mr. Oliver Prouse, solicitor, Wellington, and Mr. George Prouse, Milan, Italy.
