WHAKAMARA ITEMS.

There svas a good attendance at the euchre party and dance on Friday. Ibe ladiefi’ prize was won by Mrs. J. Gulliver and the men’s by Mr. T, Malhane. Mr. and Mrs. S. Buckrell, who have necn spending a few days at Huritervillej have returned. Mrs. J. Dobson has returned frorn Awatuna, where she lias been staying a few clays. The Whakamara school children visited Fraser Road on Tuesday and met the local children at football and basketball. The Whakamara football team lost 8-3 after a strenuous game, all the scores being gained in the second spell, and the basketball team won by 5-2. After tho matches the visitors and players were entertained at afternoon tea provided by Fraser Road ladies. The Mere Mere.-Ohangai-Whakamara-Mokoia Schools’ Sports Association has decided to hold a concert .and dance at Ohangai on August 8 to present the football and basketball cups.
