BERLIN COURT’S DECISION. GEORGIAN PATRIOT GAOLED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Berlin, July 21. The verdict in the Karuuidze case, which in effect legally sanctioned counterfeiting as a political weapon, was today reversed by the Appellate Court and Professor Shalva Karunidze was sentenced to 34 months’ imprisonment. His confederates were sentenced to shorter terms and fined. There was a surprising end to the first trial of Karuffidze, “uncrowned King of Georgia,” his compatriot Sadathieraschwill and six Germans on the charge of conspiracy to forge masses of Russian notes in the hope of causing an economic collapse in Russia and the overthrowing of the Soviet by' a rush attack. Three of the defendants were acquitted.
