The fortnightly euchre party took place last Friday. Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Fraser won the ladies’ prizes, while Mr. G. Graham won the men’s first prize, with Mr. Kay second after a play-off with Master Slight. Mr. Alf. Smith played the music for the dance that followed.
Owing to the prevalence of influenza in tho district the debate that should have taken place last Wednesday was postponed. Several pig-hunting parties have been securing extraordinarily good bags lately amongst the pigs, which are still fairly plentiful, and a decided nuisance to tho farmers in tho back country. Mr. E. McClellan has returned from a short holiday. Mr. E. Loveridge has x’eturned from Wellington. Mr. R. Wright is an inmate of tho New Plymouth hospital. Tho infant son of Mr. and Mrs. .E. Whittaker, junr., is in .hospital suffering from pneumonia. Messrs. G. Graham and Kay, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. Wright, have returned home. Mrs. T.
