Mr: W. Glenn has returned to New Plymouth from Rotorua. Dr. 11. E. Annett was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bly de, Lepperton, during his visit to North Taranaki. The death of Mr. Henry W. Apperley, general manager o fthe Australian Mutual Provident Society, aged 69, is reported by cable from Sydney. Mr. J. R. Muir, Wellington, Mr. P. H. Hartland, Wanganui, Mr. P. Norbury, Auckland, and Mr. J. F. Strang, Invercargill, are staying at the Criterion, New Plymouth.
Suppliers at the annual meeting of the Brooklands Dairy Company yesterday expressed sympathy with the. secretary, Mr. R. Pepperell, in the bereavement sustained by the loss of his daughter.
Mr. F. S. Varnham, formerly manager of the Taranaki Agencies Ltd., has joined the staff of the Taranaki Herald Company, Ltd., New Plymouth, as secretary.
The Rt. Hon. Sir Adrian Knox, P. 0., K.C.M.G., has been appointed a director of the Bank of New South Wales to fill the vacancy on the board caused by the death of Dr. R. L. Faithful, Sir Adiian was formerly Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. /.
The Taranaki Education Board yesterday expressed sympathy in their bereavements with the relatives of Sii Joseph Ward and Mr. G. A. Adlam, forferly a member of the board, and with the‘Hon. S. G. Smith, the board’s chairman, iu the recent death of his brother.
Mr. G. Goodwin was yesterday rci ected chairman of directors of the Brooklands Dairy Company for the eighth year in succession. Mr. W. E. Haylock, the original chairman of the Oxford Dairy Company, was elected chairman of that concern in succession to Mr. W. Corbett, -who resigned. The annual meeting of the Oxford Dairy Company yesterday expressed sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Dan Brophy. In moving the motion the chairman said Mr. Brophy had been a member of the directorate of the factory, with the exception of one year, ever since its inception, and the company had lost a good friend.
Mr. 11. Seldon, whose sudden death occurred at Taumarunui on Friday, was well known in Taranaki, where he had been with the firm of Burges, Fraser and Co., until his removal to the Hamilton branch of that firm. Mr. Seldon was a returned soldier, having left New Plymouth with the Main Body and takingpart in the historic landing at Gallipoli. He served as a sergeant-major in the Taranaki Regiment before being invalided home from the peninsula. Mr. Seldon is survived by his wife and small child. A large number of wcllwishcrs of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Hall assisted in the celebration of their silver wedding at their lio Kio home. Among those present was the bridesmaid, Mrs. J. Tisch, Fitzroy, New Plymouth. An enjoyable supper included a two-tier wedding cake made by the bridesmaids Mr. and Mrs,. Hall were married in the Inglewood Methodist Church in June, 1905, by the Rev.
