The occasion v,-as the “old-timers'” dance at Huirangi in aid of the cemetery funds. That the old dances have by no means lost their charm was manifest by the crowded state of the floor as the gaily dressed throng treaded the mazes of the dances to the strains of the old-time popular airs appropriately dispensed by Martin’s orchestra, extras being played by Mrs. L. Sarten. Messrs. R.'G. Wells, F. Loveridge and L. Longstaff. as masters of ceremonies, kept matters merrily moving, but so thoroughly did everyone enter into the spirit of the occasion that their position was more or less a sinecure. Supper, dispensed by the ladies of the district in lavish manner, provided a pleasant interlude. Complete arrangements for the function had been made by the trustees, -Messrs. F. Y. Andrews (chairman and secretary), R. G. Wells and I R. P. Honnor, and they must feel recompensed for their labour by the sucachieved, for as the result of, last , night’s function the cemetery fund will J benefit to the extent of about £lOl
