The climax came in the seventh round when McDougall escaped from an arm [mil by rolling through the ropes. Ailey following him, they fought fiercely outside the ropes, disregarding the referee. The seconds attempted to intervene, and one of Alley’s supporters, L. Naylor, received a blow on the mouth necessitating the insertion of two stitehes. The round ended jii6t as McDougall was persuaded to re-enter the ring. The end came early in the eighth round, Alley securing a toe hold and body press and forcing his opponent's shoulders to the mat.
