The seconds attempted to intervene, and one of Alley’s supporters, L. Naylor, received a blow on the mouth necessitating the insertion of two stitehes. The round ended jii6t as McDougall was persuaded to re-enter the ring. The end came early in the eighth round, Alley securing a toe hold and body press and forcing his opponent's shoulders to the mat.
