The Prince stressed the necessity for such an organisation and pointed out that the English were naturally as kindly hospitable as any. but were apt to hide their kindness beneath an overwhelming bushel of reserve. There was certain ritual, little understood by foreigners, which must be observed before even the outer bounds of companionship reacted.
