(From Our Own Correspondent.) The fortnightly euchre party was held on Friday night, 17 tables being engaged. Mrs. Simmons, Mrs. Langley, Misa Stanley and Miss Smith tied for first prize. * After the' play-off, Mrs. Langley and Miss Stanley (partners) halved* the prize, Mr. Jordan won the men’s prize. Mies N, Langley and Master F. Morris won the special ' prizes. Mrs. Langley played extras for dancing. The interest taken by the schoolchildren in agricultural work under the supervision of the headmaster, Mr. Goldsbury, and Air. Goodrich as visiting supervisor, was rewarded by their winning the championship cup of the North' Taranaki ■ Girls’ and Boys’ Club. The Egmont- Village School basketball team visited Lower Mangorei on Wednesday, After an exciting game honours were even, each side scoring four goals. The heavy frosts of last week seem to have destroyed the grass-grub, which lias played havoc in some paddocks. Seagulls in dozens, a rare sight inland, were to be seen feeding on the grubs. Since the frosts they have not returned. Mrs. Langley is the guest of her sister, Airs. VV. Simons. Air. P. Morris has returned from Wellington. Mrs. Perrott after a protracted stay in the New Plymouth hospital has returned home. Air. and Mrs. E. Whittaker jun. spent a few days with Airs. C. Jordan this week. Airs. Hoyland entertained a few friends at a 500 evening on Saturday.
