RETURN GAME WITH STRATHMORE Playing at Te Wera on Saturday, Whangamomona again drew with iStrathmore after an interesting and willing game. The day was cold and overcast but the ground was in good order. Whangamomona played a very good game and though the forwards were called on to hold, a heavier pack they responded excellently. Slowness in passing prevented Whangamomona scoring on two occasions. Whangamomona kicked through to Strathmore’s twenty-five, and after further footwork was within five yards of Strathmore’s line. There was no opening, however, as the ball was transferred too slowly. The ball was punted over the dead ball, line and into a nearby creek. A fresh ball was secured. Half-time came with no score. The second spell • had scarcely commenced when H. Barnes mulled and ■Strathmore rushed on the ball. Good tactics saved the situation, but offside play occurred and Jarvis kicked a penalty goal from near Whangamomona’s goal. Whangamomona staged a fast i dribbling rush which ended in AstwoOd’s scoring a fine try near the corner. J. Garver’s kick was low, making the points three-all. Strathmore went through but kicked beyond the dead ball line. Strathmore pressed again and crossed, but Whangamomona forced. Lin I Carver gained ground for Whangamo- [ mona and after a dashing fun by K. Hight, Dalbeth secured and scored near the corner. The kick went astray. Strathmore started a fast rush in open formation. The ball was transferred several times before Yandle scored halfway between the goal and the corner. Jarvis’ kick was a trifle wide. Each team had scored six pointa. Strathmore went over the line with the bali at toe, but Whanga forced. Again Strathmore crossed the line, but the referee decided it was no try.
