FINE TO SHOWERY WEATHER

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be unsettled in and north of Cook Strait, with fairly general rain and some heavy falls in the Auckland province, with flooding in places. Conditions will be mainly fine elsewhere but some scattered showers are expected in coastal districts in the eastern portions of the South Island. Temperatures will be cold. Winds will be south to east, light to moderate over the South Island but moderate to strong thence northwards, reaching gale force at times in Cook Strait and the far north. Seas will be rough north of Kaikoura and in the Cook Strait area ; elsewhere smooth to moderate.
