.EUCHRE AND PING-PONG. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The third euchre party and pingpong tournament in connection with the Anglican Church winter social evenings was continued in the parish hall on Friday evening, the attendance being large. In the euchre division some very interesting games were closely contested, the result being that Mrs. J. IL Tyack won the ladies’ prize and Mr. J. Watson (Riverlea) the men’s. Supper was served by a number <rf members of the ladies’ guild, after which [he ping-pong tournament, which seems to be increasing in favour, took place. The ladies’ prize was won by Miss M. O’Neill (Riverlea), and in a very keen contest amongst 29 players for the men’s prize Mr. R, Jefcoate beat Mr. H. Grace after a play-off'. Air. Jefcoate kindly returned the prize to the committee, for the next evening. PERSONAL. Miss L. Potts, .Palmer Road, is visiting Wanganui for several weeks. Mr. J. Watson, Riverlea, is spending a few days at Wanganui,. Mr. D. Black, Christchurch, formerly a resident of this district for 20 years, has been on a short visit during the past week looking up old friends. Air. and Airs. G. Death, Netherton. visited Kaponga during the past week, looking up many old friends, and returned home by car on Friday. Mrs. C. Cleland, Alanaia Road, is on an extended visit to Wellington. She was accompanied by Miss M. Pearce, who will remain for only two or three weeks. During the absence of the vicar, the Rev. A. J. Farrell, at the annual synod the services at St. Mark’s Church are being conducted by the lay-readers, Messrs J. Bailie and R. M. Arnold.
