POLICE COMPELLED TO FIRE PARTY AMBUSHED IN JUNGLE REFUSAL TO PAY TAXATION By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec 9.19 p.m. Delhi, July 3. Villagers of Khersai, East Bengal, refusing to pay taxes, attacked 60 armed police who went to attach their property. Two thousand resisters threw stones, injuring several police, who fought their way to the jungle, where they were ambushed and were compelled to lire, killing one and injuring several. The mob then dispersed. An attempt was made at Peshawar to wreck a mail train with a bomb. There was a terrific explosion, but no' damage was done and no one was injured.
