MAN WITH REVOLVER
.EFFORT TO SEE POLICE CHIEF. . SEIZED BY A DETECTIVE. iA man from whose packet protruded the butt of ft pistol endeavoured to gdin an interview with the New South Wales Commissioner of ' Police, Mr. Cliilde, in Sydney recently. He was seized and disarmed by the chief of detectives, Mr. Mackay. ■The stranger called at police headquarters twice during the day to secure an interview with the commissioner, and it| was when he was about to bo admitted into Mr. Child’s office that the commissioner’s officer, Constable Sanders, noticed that he was fumbling with ihp butt end of a pistol. The stranger said: “I have an unpleasant duty to Mr. Mackay was notified, and he bounded up the stairs, strode up to the map, and, after seizing him, took the revolver. Subsequently the man was detained and questioned. He was able to prove that he had a license to carry a revolver, and, when asked what he meant by saying that- he -had an unpleasant duty to perform, he replied that he had meant that ■ the subject of his- interview was unpleasant.
