A ranrt w,.f submitted on behalf of the internal sales committee which was still of opinion: (1) That compulsory standardisation is an urgent necessity and indispensable to success; (2) that

local control is imperative; (3) a bureau of statistics is required immediately; (4) advertising, although absolutely necessary, should be withheld until standardisation is a reality and then should be Dominion wide. Mr. Brash said the mandate for the present should be standardisation and advertising. He moved that the conference express its hearty appreciation of the work done by the local marketing committee and pledges itself again to do everything possible to assist the committee in its efforts to secure a successful vote on the question of local control for the purpose of putting into

force compulsory standardisation and a levy for advertising. Mr. Firth (Auckland) seconded the motion and it was carried. Tho following were elected to the local marketing committee: W. A. Tate (Greytown), R. Paynter (Hawke’s Bay), C. Ballantyne (Auckland); J. Dicker (Tasman), F. W. Cone (Canterbury), R. Kinnaird (Otago).
