AFFAIRS OF TOWN BOARD. ' (From Our Own Correspondent.) The adjourned meeting of the Opunake Town Board was held on Monday night. Members present were: Messrs. A. J. Brennan (chairman), A. Raynor, H. Booker, W.. J. S. Dudley, W. E. Gunson and H. J. Mantey. . .. . . , « , The board .decided to support the fetratford Borough Council’s resolution protesting .against any diversion ,of money from the Opaku educational, endowment to any other educational purpose but that originally decreed—Taranaki scholarships. The board decided to have erected on the main south road, near the schools, warning notices to drivers of motor vehicles. . „ The innovation of angle parking oi cars on the main street was considered to be working very satisfactory. It was decided to charge 3s extra to societies using the town hall for dances. The charge is to cover the cost of cleaning the room. The third grade football matches "were continued on Wednesday. Pihama .played Opunake at Opunake, the latter winning by 17 points to 5. For the winner Barra-, clough scored, three tries and Donnelly and Hawkins one‘ each. Barraclough converted one try. Harry (five-eights) scored a try for Pihama, Richards converting. The game was more evenly contested than the scores indicate. Opunako had a heavier, set of forwards than Pihama and was able to dominate the serums. Mr. R. Bowman refereed.- . High School played at Rahotu and Ra hotu, an improved team,, held its own against the leading team in the competition.
