FIRE IN WAIHI SHOPS
THREE PREMISES DAMAGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Waihi, June 16. The first fire for some time to threat-, en the business centre occurred at 9 o’clock last evening, partially gutting premises in Rosemount Road occupied by F. Timanus and C 0.,, ironmongers, H. Carbutt, grocer, and R. Toomey, bootmaker. • Splendid work by the brigade prevented the conflagration spreading to adjoining shop buildings owned by H. Berridge’s estate. Timanus and Co.’s x stock was insured for £lOOO, Carbutt’s for £lOO and Toomey’s 'for £230.
