BRITISH RUGBY TOURISTS

ARRIVAL AT CHRISTCHURCH. TEAM TO PLAY CANTERBURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, June 5. The British Rugby team arrived this morning for the. match against Canterbury on Saturday, and was given a civic reception. On account of his injuries Sobey will probably not be availably for the first Test. Prentice has poisoned an arm and it is doubtful if he will play against Canterbury. An emphatic denial that Cliff Porter, the Wellington captain and wing-for-ward, was snubbed by members of the British team after the match was given by Prentice, the British captain,. this morning. He expressed surprise that such a statement should have been made and he asserted that as Porter had denied the allegation it should not have appeared in print. He and tho rest of the team knew Porter as a fine footballer and a good sportsman, and if there was ever any offside play on the part of the wing-forward the checking of such rested with tho referee. The best answer to the allegations of snubbing was given by Porter himself in his denial.
