KNOCKED. DOWM WEAR JARIKI A " " ' COLLISION ON MAIN HIGHWAY. TERRIBLE INJURIES TO HEAD. John Biddle, an old age pensioner, aged about 70, was knocked down and killed instantly by a motor-car near Tarikj last night. His skull was fractured front and back and he received a compound fracture of the right leg. below the knee. Biddle, who lived with Mr. Kendrick, Johns Road, Tariki, was "walking northwards about a mile from that township when the accident occurred. He was on a straight stretch of tar-sealed roadway when, about 7.50 p.m., a car driven by Mr. 8e1k,.., Midhirst, 'came up behind and passed another ear travelling: in : the opposite direction. It was immediately after passing this-. vehicle that Mr: Belk’s car collided with Mr. Biddle. Mr. Belk sent a message to Inglewood and Constable Longbottom took the body on a motor-lorry -to Inglewood. The driver of th© other car ; went on without stopping, but it is very probable that he was not aware there bad been an accident An inquest will be opened .at Inglewood to-day. i
