Police Opart to the charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a car yesterday, Claude Rusher, a cook by occupation, was fined £2O and had his driver’s license cancelled for twelve months. The police stated that defendant was en route from Wuipukurau to Wanganui. When he was passing the Mangone Bridge, on the Rangitikel Line, an accident occurred. The car was found extensively damaced, having apparently somersaulted once or twice. Th 4 defendant appeared to be in a drunken condition. Counsel for the defence said tiQU'bl® with the steering gear caused the accir dent.. Defendant denied that he was under the influence of liquor, but admitted having had drinks.
