OPENING BALL AT OMATA
ANOTHER SUCCESS ACHIEVED. The opening ball of the 1930 season the Ornata hall I’asi night saw another success added to the long list already achieved by the hall' committee, which has behind it the help of the ladies of the district. A large gathering representative of the district from Warea to Waitara attended, expecting from previous experience a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and they were not disappointed. The committee had excelled itself, with the result that the hall, embowered in greenery, jnade a splendid setting for the many beautifully gowned dancers as they glided over the perfectly prepared floor to the music of Coburn’s star orchestra. ' Messrs. E. Luxton, L. Penwarden, and H. Bayly as masters of cerei >nies kept matters merrily moving. Supper, extras were played by Misses J - Fetch and G. Skelton, Messrs. P. Meredith, H. Bayly and G. Gray. The supper room had been decorated by the ladies, the prevailing motif being chrysanthemums and sweet peas. The ladies in charge of the supper arrangements were Mesdames R. G. Knapman (convenor), E. Andrews (secretary), P. H. Mace, A. J. Luxton, H. Kendall, R. C. Stanton, L. B. Hart, W. McKee, E. R. Bayly, L. A. Mcllardie, Misses M, Luxton, R. Luxton and M. Bayly. The members of the hall committee have - every reason to feel pleased, as from the encomiums passed by visitors they have further enhanced the reputation of the dances. They had numerous requests to repeat the ball, and it is probable they will do so at an early date. The committee comprised Messrs. R. G. Knapman (chairman), J. Seabrook (honorary secretary and treasurer), R. Pen warden, L. Penwarden, V. Freemantle, E. Luxtoin H. Bayly and E. Andrews.
