GIFTS FOR THE BACKBLOCKS.

Sir, —May I appeal through your valuable columns to the generosity of the people of New Plymouth for gifts of books, magazines and illustrated papers, to carry on our backblock work. Winter is here with its long, evenings, and our shelves badly need replenishing. The many requests and appreciative letters received make this work quite worth while, and we shall be most grateful for help in this matter. Parcels may be left at the. League Room, A.M.P., or if too heavy, will be called for. Thanking you. —I am, etc., ANN BURGESS, ’ President, Victoria League. New Plymouth, May 12, 1930.
