The claim by Mr. Norman (Wizard) Smith to have made a ten-mile world record in a Cadillac motor-car with a Rolls-Royce aero engine at Ninety-mile Beach, North Auckland, has not been upheld by the Royal Automobile Club. The Motor (England) of March 11, elates the international regulations covering attempts on world and international class records require that all records up to 10 miles shall be automatically timed by an apparatus registering to within 1-IOOOth of a second, and If the record is attempted on a straightaway course the distance shall be covered in both directions. As these conditions were not complied with, the Roval Automobile Club is not able to submit the claim to the international body for recognition.
