SUCCESS OF LOCAL FIXTURE CHOPPING, SAWING AND PUNNING. , GOOD CROWD IN FINE WEATHER. Tara la had a good day yesterday for the -local sports.- The meeting was well supported by the settlers, and with the good weather and the splendid way the committee controlled the events there was not a dull moment the whole day. The, local tug-of-war drew good entries, 25 competing (five in a team), and after some very fine pulls the team winning was AV. Smee, H. Crowe, V. Thorne, 5. Askew and R. Lambert. A splendid luncheon supplied by the ladies’ committee was justly dealt with. A dance was held in the evening at the hall, an excellent: supper being supplied by the ladies’ .committee. Harris’ Orchestra supplied the music. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs. P. Rogers, N. Laurence and A. R. Harris.
