AUTUMN BLOOMS
DISPLAY AT STRATFORD. ST. ANDREW’S ANNUAL SHOW. Beautiful blooms lifting their heads in proud array and set off against a background of delicately tinted autumn foliage transformed the town hall at ■Stratford into a miniature fairyland on the occasion of St. Andrew’s annual chrysanthemum show yesterday. Entries in the chrysanthemum classes were greater than last year, while the other sections were up to previous standards, with the result that the space on tile numerous stalls was taxed to accommodate the exhibits.
In opening the show Mrs. W. J. Polson said: that for flowers Taranaki was one of the leading provinces in New Zealand. Love of flowers, she thought, was the only, passion that increased with age, and it was in the autumn that nature made her greatest gesture. There was a good attendance at the show both in the afternoon and the evening.
