BALL AT HILLSBOROUGH

ENJOYABLE HALL FUNCTION. Hillsborough Hall presented a gay scene last night on the occasion of the opening bal lof the season, and the standard set shows that the hall functions are likely to be as popular as ever this season. Despite strong counter-attrac-tions the hall was comfortably filled, and all present had .a thoroughly enjoyable time, the committee having been to considerable pains to make thorough preparations. The floor was perfect, an the music dispensed by Renton’s or; chestra proved irresistible, lightening the task of the masters of ceremonies, Messrs. G. Marsh, J. Davis and J. Rogers. Extras were played by Mrs. A. Marsh ( and Miss L. Sampson. The supper was again a feature, the tables being tastefully decorated with chrysanthemums and laden with dainties. The ladies responsible were Mesdames H. C. Sampson, L, A. Marsh, T. Sampson, W? Barnibal, C. R. Harding. A, Marsh, F. Stanley, H. O. Skelton, T, Parker, L. Parker, W. Parker, Misses D. Sampson, L. Sampson, E. Rogers, N. Street, M. Davis, E. Parker, M. Cliff, I. Hawkings, C. Stanley and M. Stanley. The hall committee, comprising Messrs. N. P. Skelton (chairman), J. Davis (secretary), P. Stanley, H. C. Sampson, P. Rothery, G. E. Rogers, A. Marsh, G. Marsh, G. Stanley, E. Davis and T. Briggs, are to be complimented on the success, and all are looking forward to the next function.
