THE NORTHERN HIGHWAY

MAHOENUI-TE KUITI. GREAT IMPROVEMENT MADE. (Special to News.) Te Kuiti, May 5. Improvements to the sections of main highway between Te Kuiti and Pio Pio, and Pio Pio and Malioenui are still being carried out by the Waitomo County Council and the Main Highways Board. Work .has been proceeding on the former section for some months, and surface improvements and. widening and removal of corners have been effected. The road is in a much better condition than it was 12 months ago, and when the work is completed this section of main highway will be better than it has been for years past, while a number of bad corners will have been eliminated. Similar work is being carried out in the section between Pio Pio and Mahoenui, and when the work on this portion of the road is completed the route between Te Kuiti and Mahoenui, which for some time past has ..been very bad in places, will have assumed a much more satisfactory condition.
