DRUNKEN SAILOR DRIVES CAR
SEQUEL TO EVANS BAT SMASH. By Telegraph.—Press 'Association. Wellington, May 5. A .motor-car’s mad career along the Evans Bay Road ended in a smash against a bank and a fall into a culvert, and the driver, W. L. Garbutt, a seaman, appearing in tho court. The police evidence was that’ he was in the habit of coining ashore from his ship and driving round in borrowed cars. Ho was in an advanced state of drunkenness when found. The magistrate fined him £lO and suspended his license for two years, remarking that that would keep him out of trouble for that time at least.
