Air. T. McPhillips returned to Nev* Plymouth yesterday from a visit to the Waikato and Auckland districts. The death occurred at Auckland on Wednesday of the wife of Mr. Ernest C. Heel, formerly of New Plymouth and Inglewood. The Governor-General arrived in Auckland last night from Te Aroha, where he' spent the day duck-shooting, the Press Association reports. Lady Blcdisloe is also at Auckland. They" will remain there for six weeks. , :
Sympathy witji the relatives of the late Mr. C. J. Belcher, was. expressed at the Clifton County CounciLmeeting-yes-terday. A letter conveying condolence ia to be .forwarded to. the relatives.
Air. C. D. Collins, formerly of New Plymouth, who is attached to the staff of the Commercial Bank, has been appointed to the position of accountant at the Masterton branch. x/
Mr. C. Hannan, who travelled to Hawcra by air on Thursday to attend the Federated ’’Aero Club meeting as one of the New Plymouth Aero Club’s delegates, returned to New Plymouth by car the same evening.
The Rev. G. S. Cook, St. Aubyn Methodist Church, New Plymouth, will leave at the end of May. Oh account of his health Mr. Cook had to he free from full work, but he was-able to take light supply work for a time. He finds it necessary to relinquish his work, and intends to return to his home at Otaki. , .
Guests at the Criterion, New Plymouth, include Mr. Gordon Reid/ manager of the Wellington office of the Commercial Union Insurance Company, who is accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Reid, Mr. J. G. Helyar, manager of Walker and Hall, Wellington, who is accompanied by A!(rs.. Helyar, Colonel J. Saunders (Wellington), Mr. J. G. Nickson (England), Mr. R. P. Zidgler (Ottawa) and Mr. and Mrs. W. D. McCurdie (Te Awamutu), with whom is Mr. W. J. McCurdie (Brisbane).
