TAME DEMONSTRATIONS

COMMUNISTS’ MAY DAY.

SPEECHES OF FIERY NATURE.

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.

Rec. 9 p.m. Sydney, May 1. The Communists’ procession in celebration of May Day .was a poor affair in Sydney. Crowds of unemployed gathered on street corners and watched it pass, but declined invitations to take part. Speeches of a fiery nature were delivered in the Domain.

The police arrested seventeen Communists who attempted to parade without permission at Glebe.

A similarly tame demonstration was held in Melbourne, but there were no disturbances.
