Mr. L. M. Moss returned to New Ply* mouth on Tuesday evening from a visit to Dunedin.

Mr. R. J. Deare left New Plymouth for Wellington yesterday morning. He expects to return on Tuesday. Mr. G. A. Troup, Mayor of Wellington, is taking a sea trip to Vancouver for. the sake of his health.

The death occurred recently at Wa- '• nganui of Mrs. E. Simson, aged 70, widow of Mr. David Cameron Simson, Auckland, and eldest daughter of the late Mr. Henry Putt, Vogeltown, one. of New Plymouth’s earliest settlers. The death has occurred in England ; of Mr. James Dykes, formerly of Wellington, who had- been in the employ of the New Zealand Dairy Board in England since the Wembley Exhibition, reports the Press Association from Wellington. Lieut.-Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., D. 5.0., R.N.Z.A., and Captain F ;L. Hunt, N.Z.S.C., musketry instruction officer, central military command, arrived in New Plymouth on Tuesday to examine C*. Company senior cadets in an elimination test for the Campbell statuette. -
