AMAZING RIOT IN DARWIN

Rec. 11.53 p.m. Darwin, April 29. A hundred unemployed marched the streets of Darwin to day and finally locked themselves in a room with the Government Resident, the chief health officer and two members of the advisory commission. They then demanded a sustenance allowance and certain other privileges which the Government Resident was unable to grant owing to lack of money.
The police arrived, burst into the room and dispersed the men, who gathered on the verandah and defied the police. Ihe men announced they intended to remain there. The police, although unarmed, declare they can deal with the situation.
