LORD BLEDISLOE’S SLOGAN

ADVICE FOR ROTORUA FOLK.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night.

The Governor-General and party arrived at Rotorua at noon and were received on the railway platform by the •Mayor (Mr. Thomas Jackson) and councillors and by Mr. V. Ward and Mr. Jeffrey on behalf of Sir Joseph Ward. In the afternoon a civic reception was held in the both buildings. The Mayoi welcomed Their Excellencies.

His Excellency thanked the citizens for their cordial welcome. He referred to the loyalty of the Arawas and alluded to Rotorua as the most celebrated spa in the southern hemisphere and enumerated its attractions. He spoke of land experiments in the district and afforestation. It was, ho said, the day of slogans, and he gave his hearers the slogan, “Preserve from deterioration and contamination your beautiful countryside on the one hand and the youth of the country on the other.” The former was the latter’s grandest heritage. Lord Bledisloe said he was pleased to be Governor-General of New Zealand and would be still prouder if he could lend a useful hand in helping to stabilise rural prosperity and through it the prosperity of all classes in town and country.

His Excellency afterwards visited the Prime Minister. A social evening is being given tonight in the Dixieland Cabaret.
