COASTAL MOVEMENTS.

The Paua, with case oil from Wellington, is expected at New Plymouth during the week; ■■■ The Progress is due at Lyttelton today to load for Wellington, New Plymouth and Waikato. She is due at New Plymouth on Friday and proceeds Waikato, where she is due on Saturday. (Hooker Bros.). The Kaimiro loaded at Dunedin yesterday for New Plymouth via Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington .and Nelson. She will proceed later to Westport. She is due at New Plymouth about Saturday. (U.S.S. Co.).

The Himatangi is due at Lyttelton today and proceeds to Wellington, Picton and Wanganui. She is due at Wellington to-morrow, Picton on Thursday and Wanganui on Friday, proceeding later to New Plymouth. (Hooker Bros.). The Totara left New Plymouth at 4.36 yesterday for Nelson, Motueka and Lyttelton. She loads at Lyttelton on Friday for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth, being due here about Monday. (U.S.S. Co.). The Kamona loads 450 tons of railway coal at Greymouth about Saturday, proceeding to New Plymouth, where she is due next Monday. She sails later for Auckland.

The John is due at Dunedin on Thursday to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and New Plymouth, where she is due on May 7. She proceeds to Waikato later and is scheduled to arrive on May 8. (Hooke Bros.). The Kanna arrived at New Plymouth from Westport on Friday and proceeded to Wellington to complete discharge last evening. She unloaded 500 tons of coal, ONEHUNGA' FEJRRY SERVICE. The Ngapuhi, with passengers and cargo is due at New Plymouth from Onehunga this morning. When she returns to Onchunga from New Plymouth on Saturday the vessel will be withdrawn from the service. She will then go to Auckland and relieve the Clansman .in ; the Russell service on May 5, while the Clansman undergoes overhaul. The Ngapuhi will be replaced Un the Onchunga run by the motor vessel Hauturu, which will run a bi-weekly cargo service between One'-diiga and New Plymouth.;

MARAMA’ AND MAKURA CHANGE.

Wellington, Last Night.

Tho Union Company’s steamers Mar.o.na and Makura, which changed places in the inter-colonial and trans-Pacific mail services as a result of mishap to the Makura on the voyage from Sydney, commenced on March 20, will resume their normal running early next month.

KAIPARA, HOKIANUA HARBOURS.

The Marine Department advises that, according to soundings takiyi by Captain J. W. Burgess, of the Tutanekai, on April 4, a least mean depth of 26ft. was obtained at mean low water, spring tide on the bar at Kaipara harbour. On March 31 a line of soundings was taken at mean low water spring tide across the Hokianga bar and a least depth of 28ft. obtained. NEW WHALING FACTORY. The SUpping World announces that Messrs. Armstrong, Whitworth, Ltd., have received an order for the construction of a 25,000 tons floating whale oil factory, which will be constructed on the Tyne. The btal cost of the ship will be over £330,000, and the equipment will include the latest devices for the efficient capture of whales and the treatment of carcases. PORT HARDY DISCHARGING. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Hardy, which ar-ived at New Plymouth on Sunday morning from Wellington and berthed at the Newton King wharf, is completing discharg of 2200 tons of miscellaneous cargo from London. She will then commence loading 4700 crates of cheese and 21,000 freight carcases of meat. She leaves for Wanganui and Wellington about the end of the week. She is scheduled to sail finally from Wellington on May 13 for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain, via Montevideo. Captain W. J.
