CHECKING COMMUNISM IN CHINA.

POLICE ARREST ARMED MEETING.

By .Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.

Shanghai, April 27. One hundred and eleven. arrests have been made to-day of Chinese distributing Communist literature. Four hundred youthful Reds paraded the settlement streets and diverged into sections of about 100, each one endeavouring to hold a meeting in a hall. Police attempted to enter and break up one meeting, but the Chinese armed themselves with short lengths of iron bans. They were obviously specially prepared, and the police, who were outnumbered, withdrew, but blockaded the building, awaiting armed reinforcements, upon .which the gathering surrendered and the men were taken into Custody. • • ;.-• •: ./
