The closing of the 1929-30 season of the Inglewood Bowling Club took place on Thursday afternoon, when owing to there not being a very largo attendance a pairs match of those over CO versus those under GO- was played. The final for the pairs championship of the club was also played, when E. Spurdie and E. Maetzig 29 defeated J. Frewin and F. Spurdie 21. Totals: Over sixty, 84; under sixty, 119. It is considered very necessary in tho coming year to have a very strong committee, as there is every prospect of the long-waited-for new school being erected in the near future. At its last meeting the Taranaki Education Board decided to apply to the department for a grant for the erection of the school, and in conferring with the Inglewood school committee the member of Parliament for the district, Mr. W. J. Polson, promised that when the board forwarded tho application to the department he would approach the Minister of Education and support it to his utmost. The Minister of Education has also indicated to the committee that the grant will receive his favourable attention. Such a position should stimulate the keenest interest in the householders meeting this year. SPURDLE’S RINK DEFEATED. A rink led by Tiplady defeated Spurdle’s rink, the holders of the Avon stars, in a match played at Inglewood by 22 to 11. Details are: — E. I.
