RE-LICENSING OF MOTORS

PERIOD FOR RENEWAL RECURS. V/HITE NUMBERS ON BLACK BASE. The New Plymouth post office opened its service for the re-licensing of motor vehicles the day before yesterday. The service will continue until May 31, the last day on which motor-cars, trucks and motor-cycles may be re-licensed and the third party insurance risk completed. At present the new licenses are issued, in the main office at the usual counter. So far there have been a few inquiries and one or two early, registrations. When the pressure of business increases, a special branch to deal with re-licensing will be opened, as in previous years, in Silver Street. Whito . T numbers on a black background is the style of the plates this year. To facilitate the work of the post office staff, motorists are urged not to delay too long in applying for their new plates. The new plates may be attached, after May 25 and must be attached by June 1. The fee for re-licensing of motorcars is £2. A further charge of £1 is made for third-party insurance and 2/6 is the charge for plates, making a total sum of £3 2s 6d. Owners are given a choice of companies with which to place the third-party risk insurance.
