DRUNKEN TAXIMAN FINED
AUCKLAND DRIVER FOUND ASLEEP

Auckland, April 23.
Douglas Henry Alexander Chalmers, aged 33, was fined £5 for being intoxicated in a taxi-cab. He was found at 5 o’clock this morning asleep in a taxi, and he explained to tho court that he was “dead beat after the holiday rush and was persuaded to take two drinks from a customer.”
