SARRON AND DONOVAN.
A LIVELY INTEREST AROUSED. It was anticipated that 'the matching of Sarron and Donovan for Saturday, February 15, would create the liveliest enthusiasm with fight fans throughout the Island and the Dominion. Recognising that no building would accommodate the crowd that would wish to witness the clash, the Taranaki Boxing Association decided to stage the bout in the open-air in the afternoon. In the plans provision was made for heavy ringside bookings, but so great was the demand that practically every £1 1/- seat was sold within an hour of the plan being opened. Mr. Win. Stephenson at once provided extra seating accommodation, and, as a result, there are now available a number of ringside seats. The bookings already show the wisdom of the association in deciding to stage the bout out of doors. Sarron’s great win over Leckie on Tuesday night shows that he is in great form. Indeed, it is said that he has never been better. He showed that he is not only a clever boxer, but a hard hitter also.’ He will be keen to maintain his great reputation against a man of Donovan’s calibre. Donovan has now settled down to solid training. He realises that on February 15 he will be up against the hardest proposition he has ever faced. He now has an opportunity of getting on the fistic map of the world, and he is not going to neglect that opportunity. Thoroughness is his keynote, and he will eriter the ring very fit. Good as he is, it is questionable if he has ever been seen at his best; but he will be against Sarron.
