BRITISH GOVERNMENT WORK
PREMIER’S PLEA FOR SUPPORT. • By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Feb. 2. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, in a mesage to the electors for the Brightside division of Sheffield, which is vacant through Mr. Arthur Ponsonby’s elevation to the Peerage, claims that the Government has successfully pursued a policy commanding general approval, that it has upheld legitimate British interests, but had taken every step to improve foreign relations and to strengthen the foundations of assured and well organised peace. At present it was participating in a vital conference seeking to limit arid reduce naval armaments, Mr. MacDonald added. In this great task it was essential that the Government should have the backing of the British people. “We appeal to the electors of Brightside to encourage us with an unmistakable vote of confidence," Mr. MacDonald concluded.
