STREETS OF NEW PLYMOUTH
PROPOSED NEW WORK&.FOR 1930. The following schedule of proposed new works to be carried out on the streets of New Plymouth, as submitted by the borough engineer (Mr. C. Clarke), was adopted by the borough council last night:—Kerbing and channelling, £750; asphalting footpaths, £1500; Devon Street west, grout sections, £300; Mangorei Road, remetal and grout, £560; Hine Street, remetal, and sealj £350; Moleswcrth Street, remetal and grout, £350; Tukapo Street, widen and kerb and channel, £560; Mahoe and Ngaio Streets, remetal and grout, £370; Hamblyn Street, remctal, £100; Record Street, remetal and grout, £450; Nobs Line, remctal and gravel footpath, £150; Victoria Road, metal and grout, £250; Lemon Street, metal and reut, £350; Brooklands Read, remetal, £150; Omata Road, metal and seal, £150; Whiteley Street, seal, £200; Mission Hill, widen and seal, £350; Mill Road, remctal and grout, £600; Doralto Road, metal, £300; miscellaneous, £1000; total, £B/90, When the schedule came before the council for discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Or. P. E, Stainten, to include the re-conditioning of Rimu Street in the schedule, and on the motion of Cr. Amoore the tar grouting of tho turning point in Pukekura Park opposite the pavilion was also included. It was pointed out that if additional works were to be included in the schedule others already in it would have to suffer, as there was not enough money io-do all the work.
