British Official Wireless. Rcc. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Jan. 1. General Smuts, who arrived at New York yesterday for a three weeks’ visit to Canada and the United States, proceeded at once to Ottawa to meet the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Mackenzie King. He is due to return to New York on Saturday, and as the guest of the League of Nations Union he will address a number of meetings in connection with the tenth birthday of the League. He will also address the Council of Foreign Relations, tho Foreign Policy Association, the Carnegie Endowment, and the International Peace Association.

General Smuts will visit several other cities, including Washington, where he will meet President Hoover.
