WAR MEMORIAL CARILLON
RECITAL GIVEN IN HYDE PARK

Mr. Clifford Ball brought his hands down on the keys as the Lord Mayor, Sir William Waterlow, pressed the signal button, and the Wellington carillon pealed out, being heard by tens of thousands of listeners in Hyde Park.
Lord Camrose presided over the lunch at which Lord and Lady Jellicoe. the Agcnts-Gcneral for New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia were present. Lord Bledisloe said that in the New Year’s Honours list there was no more notable name than that of Sir Joseph Ward. He expected London would (ollow the example of Wellington and demand a permanent carillon.
Lord Jellicoe said that although he was just recovering from a severe operation, he came to Hyde Park to hear the carillon. Sir Granville Ryrie said he did not begiudge New Zealand her carillon, but asked why it was not going to Australia.
